OneSubsea has secured a contract for Statoil

Schlumberger company OneSubsea has secured a contract to supply the subsea production system for Statoil’s Utgard gas and condensate discovery in the North Sea.

Under engineering, procurement and construction contract, OneSubsea will provide a subsea template manifold system, two subsea wellheads and vertical monobore subsea trees, production control system, in addition to associated intervention and workover tooling.

The latest contract follows the signing of an agreement with Statoil in January last year.

OneSubsea president Mike Garding said: “We look forward to supporting Statoil in the commercial development of Utgard through the delivery of the subsea production system.

“In collaboration with Statoil, we are developing a new subsea wellhead system that is particularly suitable for the fairly shallow waters in the Utgard field; and we are committed to supporting Statoil in their drive to break the cost curve.”

Jointly, OneSubsea and Statoil worked to qualify a vertical monobore subsea tree as a standardised solution for the latter’s subsea developments.

Under the contract, the vertical trees will be assembled and tested at the OneSubsea facility located in Horsøy, Norway.

Utgard straddles the UK-Norway median line and the majority of reserves will be located on the Norwegian side.

As part of the field development, two wells will be drilled in a standard subsea concept, with one drilling target on each side of the median line.

The gas in Utgard has a high CO2 content and will benefit from carbon cleaning and storage facilities at Sleipner.
