Ormen Lange wet gas compression awarded to OneSubsea!

The Ormen Lange license has chosen OneSubsea's solution with wet gas compression.

Earlier this year, it became clear that a future compression solution on the field would be a subsea concept. This will help to increase the recovery rate from Ormen Lange.

- We are pleased to have matured the project further. This is important to increase value creation from Norway's second largest gas field. The partners have worked well together to capitalize on technology developments in this market, which have contributed to a significant cost reduction for the entire project," says Rich Denny, CEO of A/S Norske Shell.

Future wet gas compression will increase recovery from Ormen Lange by reducing the pressure at the wellheads on the seabed. The plan is to install two compression stations at a depth of 850 meters, 120 kilometers from land. The stations are planned to be powered from the grid via the gas processing plant at Nyhamna.

- The next phase will be to further mature the details of the concept and conduct technical tests. "Shell's subsea team in Norway has worked closely with OneSubsea on other projects both here in Norway and globally. We look forward to continuing to work with them towards the final investment decision," says Lars Gjerdåker, head of Ormen Lange business development.

The partners in Ormen Lange are Shell (Operator), Petoro, Equinor, INEOS and ExxonMobil
